| Simple Facelifts and Upgrades... Refresh Tired and Fadded Outdoor Carpet Have an old indoor/outdoor sisal or grass cloth carpet that has seen better days? If the carpet is still in good shape but the color is fadded from the sun, try painting it. Paint is always my favorite tool! You can paint over the original design if you like the design, or try creating stripes or color blooks using painters tape. Try matching something like the pillows or cushions from your outdoor furniture. Be creative! Updating Large Plate Glass Mirrors Many of us have those large plate glass mirrors in our powder or bathrooms. 
A simple way to give these rooms a boast is by adding a frame to the mirror. Try adding a mirror mate, (www.mirrormate.com), for a quick facelift. The frames come in many styles and colors and the easy to follow directions make it a snap to do. 
Trash to Treasure Furniture This table was one person's trash and became another's treasure.  With a little work and some imagination, it became a fun kitchen/dining set. The white table was repainted black. Some chairs were purchased from a yardsale and were altered to better match the table.  The finished look was fantastic! Don't be afraid to try your hand at being creative-the cost is almost always less and the rewards at having done the work yourself is priceless. | | | Try Simple Changes |
| These are the before and after photos from the Washington Post House Calls article we were involved in. The simplest changes were to change the paint color, add new light fixtures and carpets for warmth. We also recommended they replace the tile flooring with a warmer Eco friendly hardwood and maximize the space by building a storage cabinet complete with a small bench. Working with the footprint of a home can be challenging, but with some simple changes the look can be dramatic. Washington Post House Calls Before Photo

| Lemon Water and Living Healthy 
Nowadays, we ingest chemicals, food additives and preservatives from our food. There is one thing each of us can do to prevent the buildup of these toxins in out bodies. Before you drink anything in the morning, drink a glass of warm water that contains the juice of one lemon. This is to help aid your liver which is our largest internal organ. Our liver does many functions from regulating blood flow,
filtering toxins, absorbs nutrients,
supports the digestive system and even helps with healthy weight loss. Lemons regenerate the liver and help produce healthy bile. Healthy bile is a must for fat metabolism
and elimination. Drinking warm lemon water
also produces enzymes for movement in the
digestive tract, while removing retained water
and toxins. This is also helpful in cleansing the

| - Use plastic wrap to protect the toilet tank when painting behind it-just remove the lid and wrap the rest of the tank.
- Going away for vacation? Don't turn off your AC. Keep it set at a higher temperature while you're away and this will prevent the humidity from building inside the house.
- Save $$ by removing your own carpet before you have a new one installed. Installers typically charge $3-$5 per square yard to take up your old carpet-do it yourself and save $100. This also gives you a chance to make repairs to your sub-floor or clean pet stains on the floor before the new carpet is installed.
